Sketching layouts, logos, typography, etc. is an enjoyable process of exploration. Sometimes sketching serves as a vital step in the design process and other times it’s just something fun to do.

It usually only took several minutes before I would begin sketching website layouts amidst my notes for class when I was in college. While not always good for my grades, it helped me distill ideas into physical form and provided creative direction for future designs.

This site was the subject of many sketches; from the faraway thoughts of what it would be like to have a web design company to deciding what content to display on the home page, sketching was always involved.

I thought it would be fun to put all these sketches together since you can compare them to the final design. I collected most of them and have provided them as a slide show in Figure 1. They portray a nice design narrative of the early (and later) design stages of this site.
